GINZA SIX has launched a long-term art project titled “A Tree” in collaboration with architect Keisuke Nakamura and his firm DAIKEI MILLS, showcasing the process of “a single tree becoming furniture and architecture” from multiple perspectives.
By returning to the roots of craftsmanship and embracing its essential values, the project seeks to artistically express this value shift through ongoing collaborations with artists from Japan and abroad.
IN FOCUS was in charge of producing the documentary film.
Filmed in Yoshino, Nara Prefecture—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—the film follows the story of the Yoshino cedar, the project’s central subject, from its felling to its processing into lumber.
